As Medical Director, you utilize your comprehensive medical knowledge in making CardioSignal's motion-sensor technology for heart disease detection more accessible to people globally. CardioSignal is a medical device mobile application that can detect atrial fibrillation using smartphone motion sensors.
As we work to expand capabilities to other major heart disease, we are looking for an experienced professional to provide leadership and direction for all medical activities at CardioSignal.
The Medical Director will be a key member of the executive team which sets the overall strategic direction for CardioSignal’s operations. The Medical Director will report to the Chief Executive Officer.
What you will do
In this role, you are responsible for successful clinical development, regulatory approval, and medical support of the company’s products to drive the success and growth. Responsibility areas include Clinical Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, and medical device Safety. You represent CardioSignal in the medical community and with health authorities. Successful planning and execution in these areas is expected to result in the regulatory approval and commercial success of CardioSignal’s key products.
You have a highly visible role as the medical voice of CardioSignal when engaging with both the physician and the patient community. You act as the primary medical representative for CardioSignal. In this capacity, you interact with external audiences including healthcare delivery, payers, regulators, healthcare policy, patient groups and investors. The Medical Director will also be responsible for developing and executing national medical education programs, e.g. webinars, to strengthen thought leadership.
We are looking for an individual with a hands-on role in leading a team of experienced individuals responsible for clinical development and clinical operations activities. Additional responsibilities for Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs and Device Safety may at first be handled through external consultants with the ambition to develop an in-house organization as the product portfolio develops.
What you will need
Valid medical license
Advanced degree (MD or MD/PhD) in a relevant field (cardiology, internal medicine) a plus
- 5+ years of clinical experience
- Relevant postdoctoral / research experience a plus
- Professional work experience
- 4+ years’ experience in a management role
- Clinical risk management experience
- Good organisational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in presentations and public speaking (e.g. conferences)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Master of health administration (MHA) or Master of business administration (MBA) is advantageous
- PhD is advantageous, especially from cardiovascular field
This position requires regular travelling mainly in Europe and the United States.
