In this role, you can help people to take care of their heart by developing CardioSignal algorithms for analysis of micro-motions at chest using motion sensors. Your main duties will vary from data analysis in our clinical research studies into developing algorithms for our medical products. As a Lead Data Scientist, you will ensure that CardioSignal algorithms and data science are of the highest scientific quality and our algorithms in our products meet the performance and other requirements for medical devices for cardiac monitoring use cases. You will contribute to CE-marked and FDA cleared medical-grade product development targeted for global markets. Despite the regulation and quality system we follow, we are a flexible and agile startup.

What we are looking for

We are currently looking for a Lead Data Scientist who is not afraid of responsibility, masters signal processing, algorithm development and modern data science methodology, is able to understand biomedical problems and choose the right methods to right tasks, and is enjoys working with a multidisciplinary team consisting of medical experts, peer data scientists, product managers, and SW engineers. You can both hands-on develop your methods yourself as well as guide others, are proud of your algorithms which work to their purpose, and you are not afraid of showcasing your work and thinking.

You have a strong theoretical background in signal processing, algorithm development, and data science. You have experience or know how on biomedical engineering and human physiology, or related fields. You keep your knowledge up-to-date and strive for continuous improvement. We value your ability to do hands-on development of data science methods and algorithm with Python and/or Matlab. Optimally, you can implement your algorithm into products running in cloud (AWS), or understand what a successful algorithm deployment in production requires. You have a systematic approach to your work, and you enjoy working with the team, helping also others to shine. You are used to work against deadlines, and solving problems.

Your work will be foundation to CardioSignal products and science. CardioSignal is a medical device and we follow ISO27001 and ISO13485 in our operations, including algorithm and SW development.

In this role you will:

• Lead our algorithm design and data science efforts together with the Team Lead
• Develop and implement algorithms based on collected motion data and reference data (ECG, echocardiography, biomedical imaging) in clinical trials
• Implement the algorithms in Python in experimental and product environments
• Carry out statistical analyses of data from clinical studies, and co-author scientific publications based on the findings
• Participate in testing and documentation for our algorithms
• Research and design technical solutions for the new algorithmic features and clinical indications
• Follow the processes defined by Precordior’s quality management system
• Work as a part of the distributed team of algorithm scientists, and with SW developers, product manager, quality and regulatory experts, and other internal and external professionals.
• Use Slack and Teams in your daily communication.

If you:

• Have MSc or PhD in data science, signal processing, biomedical engineering, computer science or related field, and master theory of signal processing and data science;
• Have experience from algorithm development for (biomedical) products, or strong track record in successful algorithm and/or data science projects;
• Are a strong problem solver both for theoretical and practical problems;
• Have strong programming skills with Python;
• Excel in a fast paced and dynamic work environment;
• Enjoy working in a small multidisciplinary development team, have good team working skills and also enjoy working independently,
• Have good command in English (required), and
• Have work permit and are living in Finland
